A website template (or web template) is a pre-coded website that can be use almost straight way (after uploading a relevant web content to it). A template defines how a website looks like, and has nothing to do with the content (text, images, videos).
Web templates are the most cost-effective and the quickest way to create professional websites. Downside of using web templates is that they are not bespoke solutions tailored for any particular business. However, if you customize a ready template, it gives you similar results as a bespoke web design and it is much cheaper.

A unique, bespoke or custom made web design means that a website is designed specifically for one business only. A web designer creates a graphic design and builds a website from scratches according to specific requirements of a particular client. Bespoke web design is by far more expensive than a web template because it requires much more work from a web designer and it can be sold only once.
As long as uniqueness is important for building a company image, it is also worth to realize that for an average website visitors there is no differences between bespoke website and a website based on a template. Another thing is that a professional looking web templates are much better for any business than a “not so professional” bespoke website that is “one of its kind”:)
